Steps to Create Free Custom Email
Fill Account Details
- Go to Zoho Workplace Suite.
- Fill your Domain name and select Add.
- In next step fill your name, admin account (It Will be your administrative account, fill [email protected] or whatever your desired name), mobile number, password.
- Agree to Terms and select proceed.
- Verify your mobile with a verification code.
- In the next step select a free plan, The free plan includes free five users and up to 5 GB storage.
- You have to verify your domain, in the next step.
DNS Provider Setup
- Here We take Godaddy as a DNS Provider.
- You have to verify CNAME, MX, SPF, DKIM Records in DNS Provider. Follow Below steps to verify your custom mail.
CNAME Verify
- Select CNAME method, you have to fill the details in your DNS Provider, Go to your DNS Provider, Copy the details in Zoho and paste it in your DNS Provider. In your DNS Provider, Select Add->CNAME-> Fill Host and Points to details, Choose TTL->Custom->600 Seconds, TTL is Time To Live, In Simple Way, The Time Taken For Reflecting Your Changes in the DNS. By Choosing low 600 Seconds TTL, You can verify your domain within 10 minutes.
- Select Verify after filling your details. After that in add users, you can add more users, you can also do this later.
MX Record Verify
- In the next step, you have to add MX Records, Fill Hostname, Address, Priority as per in Zoho Records.
- Select Verify after filling your details. After that in add users, you can add more users, you can also do this later.
SPF Record Verify
- In your DNS Provider DNS Manager-> My Accounts-> Domains -> Manage DNS.
- Add->Record->TXT, Fill “@” as a Host and “v=spf1 include:zoho.com ~all” as a TXT Record, If You select high TTL, It may take Some time for verify, you can verify later if you get the message “Can’t Verify”.
Add DKIM signature
- In your DNS Provider DNS Manager-> My Accounts-> Domains -> Manage DNS.
- Add->Record->TXT, Fill “zoho._domainkey” as a Host and “You Value” as a TXT Record.
- That’s all Now you can use your custom email.

Troubleshoot Custom Email Configuration
Can’t Verify Records
- The Verify time is Depends on the TTL, So, If you select low TTL you can verify quickly. Some cases, it may take up to 24-48 Hours.
- In DKIM Signature, Add only “zoho._domainkey” as a host. We have some issues when we add the site name with the host.
Can’t Add POP/IMAP in Other Mails
- You Can use this free custom mail in Gmail and other email providers using POP/IMAP. If you enable Two-Factor Authentication, You can’t verify just using your email and password, The Password should be generate using App Password option in Zoho Mail Control Panel.
